Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information is processed when you use calcanswers.com ("CalcAnswers"), why, and the choices you have. The site is run by WellTracked LLC ("we", "us").

1. The short version

  • Every calculation runs in your browser. What you type into a calculator is not sent to us and is not stored, unless you choose to send us a report with "Report a problem" (section 6).
  • There are no accounts and no sign-up. We don't set cookies ourselves.
  • We count page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and builds no profiles (section 4).
  • We don't sell your personal information and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Fonts are served from our own site. Nothing is loaded from Google Fonts.

2. Who is responsible

WellTracked LLC is responsible for this site. Email for privacy requests: privacy@calcanswers.com

3. Visiting the site: hosting and server logs

The site is served by Cloudflare Pages, a service of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107. When you open a page, Cloudflare processes the technical data needed to deliver it: your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the page you came from (referrer) and your browser and operating system. This is used to show the site, keep it stable and protect it against attacks. To tell people from bots, Cloudflare may set a short-lived, strictly necessary security cookie; it is not used for advertising or tracking. We keep no server logs of our own.

4. Statistics with Cloudflare Web Analytics

To learn which calculators people use and how fast pages load, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a service of Cloudflare, Inc. A small script from static.cloudflareinsights.com runs when a page loads. It is cookieless: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not fingerprint your browser. It builds no personal profiles and does not follow you across other sites.

We only see aggregate statistics: page views and visits, the pages viewed, the referring site, browser and device type, country and page load times. We can't see who you are or tie these numbers to you. Cloudflare processes this data on our behalf as our service provider (processor) and does not use it for advertising. More from Cloudflare: Cloudflare privacy policy. You can block the statistics by blocking JavaScript from static.cloudflareinsights.com in your browser; the calculators work the same.

5. Links with your calculator values

"Copy link" creates a link that contains the values you entered as parameters. The link is created in your browser only. Anyone who opens it sees those values, so share it only if you want to.

6. Reports with "Report a problem"

Each calculator has a button to report a problem. Sending a report is optional. When you send one, your browser transmits:

  • the type of problem you chose and, if you write one, your message (500 characters at most),
  • the calculator and page address, the values you entered and the result shown,
  • the version of the site your browser loaded,
  • your browser's identification (user agent) and your screen size and pixel density.

We also record when the report arrived. We don't ask for or store your name, email address or IP address with a report. Please don't put personal information in the message.

To prevent abuse we limit the number of reports per connection and hour. For that we compute a one-way hash from your IP address, a secret key and the date; your IP address can't be recovered from it without the key. The hash is stored with a counter in our database at Cloudflare (Cloudflare D1), is never linked to the report and is deleted after two hours, at the latest with the next day's cleanup.

The form is also protected by Cloudflare Turnstile from Cloudflare, Inc. Turnstile checks technical features of your browser and connection, including your IP address, to confirm that a person is sending the report. Its script loads only when you open the form and does not use advertising cookies.

Reports are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database and then reviewed automatically: a program reruns the calculation with your values, and an AI system (Claude, from Anthropic PBC) sorts the message. We fix confirmed mistakes. We delete each report no later than 90 days after we receive it. If we fix a mistake, the affected values may become one of our test cases, without any link to you.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on the state you live in (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia or Texas), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of its sale, of sharing for targeted advertising and of profiling. We don't sell or share personal information, and we don't use it for profiling. Because we don't collect names, email addresses or IP addresses with reports, we usually can't link any stored data to you. To make a request, email us at the address in section 2. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.

Because we don't sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of: the site works the same whether or not your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.

8. Children

The site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Security

The connection to this site is encrypted with TLS. You can tell by the lock icon in your browser's address bar.

10. Changes

We may update this policy. The date below shows when it last changed.
