Date Calculator
Date & TimePick a start date, choose add or subtract, enter an amount and a unit. You get the new date, its day of the week and the number of days between the two dates. The start date is today unless you change it.
Step by step
October 8, 2026 + 30 days = November 7, 2026
- Start from October 8, 2026, a Thursday, and add 30 days.
- Days and weeks count as exact days (1 week = 7 days). Months and years move the calendar month and keep the day of the month, or use the last day of a shorter month.
- The result is November 7, 2026, a Saturday, which is 30 days after the start date (4 weeks and 2 days).
Once every entry is valid, you’ll see each step of the calculation here.
Formula
- start date
- the date you begin from, counted as day 0
- amount
- the number of days, weeks, months or years to add or subtract
- month number
- a running count of months, so that adding 6 months to October gives April of the next year
How it works
Choose a start date, then add or subtract an amount of days, weeks, months or years. Days and weeks are exact: a week is always 7 days, so 30 days after October 8 is November 7 and 28 days is exactly 4 weeks. Months and years follow the calendar instead: the calculator moves the month counter and keeps the day of the month, so 6 months after October 8 is April 8, even though six months can span anywhere from 181 to 184 days. The days between the two dates are shown, so you can see that difference at once.
The end of the month needs one rule, because not every month has a day 29, 30 or 31. When the new month is shorter, the result lands on its last day: January 31 plus 1 month is February 28 (or February 29 in a leap year), and February 29, 2024 plus 1 year is February 28, 2025. Spreadsheets apply the same rule in their EDATE function. Subtracting works the same way backwards, so March 31 minus 1 month is February 28, 2026.
The tool counts calendar days, so weekends and holidays are included. To count only weekdays between two dates, use the days between dates calculator, and to see today's date or the weekday of any date by itself, use what day is it. For an age in years, months and days from a birth date, see the age calculator.
The formula
Internally every date becomes a day number on the Gregorian calendar, so leap days are handled automatically: a span that crosses February 29 contains one more day. Adding 1 year does not always add 365 days. From October 8, 2026 it is 365 days, but from October 8, 2027 it is 366 days because February 29, 2028 falls in between.
The calculator works from January 1, 1753 to December 31, 9999. The American colonies moved from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar in September 1752 (Wednesday, September 2 was followed by Thursday, September 14), so the calculator starts in 1753, where every date follows the Gregorian calendar; older records can use the Julian calendar and would not match.
Example
What date is 30 days after October 8, 2026?
- October has 31 days, so 23 days after October 8 bring you to October 31. The other 7 of the 30 days run into November and land on November 7, 2026.
- That date is a Saturday, exactly 30 days after the start. One month after October 8 would be November 8, one day later.
30 days after October 8, 2026 is November 7, 2026, a Saturday.

What is 30 days from today?
Leave the start date on today, keep the unit on days and enter 30. From October 8, 2026 that is November 7, 2026. Thirty days is not the same as one month: one month from October 8 is November 8, which is 31 days away.
What is 6 months from today?
Choose months, enter 6 and read the new date: the same day of the month, six months later. From October 8, 2026 it is April 8, 2027, which is 182 days later. Six months span between 181 and 184 days, depending on which months they cover.
Is 28 days the same as 4 weeks?
Yes. 4 weeks × 7 days is exactly 28 days, so 28 days from now falls on the same weekday as today. Four calendar months are different, because they last 120 to 123 days.
What happens when the day does not exist in the new month?
The result moves to the last day of that month. January 31 plus 1 month is February 28, or February 29 in a leap year, and August 31 minus 2 months is June 30. Adding 1 year to February 29 gives February 28 of the next year.
Does the calculator skip weekends and holidays?
No. It counts every calendar day. For business days, use the weekday count of the days between dates calculator and remove the federal or company holidays that fall in the span, because they differ by employer and state.
What is 60 or 90 days from today?
Leave the start date on today, keep the unit on days and enter 60 or 90. From October 8, 2026, 60 days later is December 7, 2026 and 90 days later is January 6, 2027. That is not the same as 2 or 3 months: 2 months from October 8 is December 8 and 3 months is January 8.
How do I find the number of days between two dates?
This page shows the days between the start date and the new date. To compare two dates you already have, enter both in the days between dates calculator, which also gives weeks, months and weekdays.
Can I subtract days, months or years from a date?
Yes. Switch the operation to subtract. For example, 90 days before October 8, 2026 is July 10, 2026, and 2 years before it is October 8, 2024.
